Slovak-born freelance editor and filmmaker Michal Kondrla graduated in film editing from the Film and TV Faculty of The Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. Since completing his postgraduate studies in 2015, he continues to teach at the school's editing department. He is among the organizers of the European Editing Masterclass, an international workshop for future editors, as well as of several local workshops for students of film art and multimedia.
In 2016, together with colleagues, he co-founded the Association of Slovak Film Editors (ASFS), which currently brings together 34 Slovak film editors, organizes educational activities in the field of film editing, and presents the national awards for the best editors. Since 2023, he has served as the President of ASFS.
Since 2021, he has been a member of the Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA). As an editor, he has collaborated on major Czech-Slovak film projects, including the co-production film Secret Delivery (2025), which had its international premiere at the 2025 Locarno Film Festival, as well as the two-part film MIKI (2024) and ČERNÁK (2025), which became the second most attended film in Slovakia since the establishment of the Slovak Republic.
